In August 2021, I debuted djSwade Radio on Pandora and I started featuring my favorite songs in my blog. My only criteria for picking these songs is that I really enjoy them. It doesn't matter to me whether they're old or new as long as they groove.
For April 2022, I am featuring the piece "Love of Strings" by Moby. This is a composition that's true to its name. Written by Moby, this song features lush instrumentation. When I heard the beginning of the song, I felt euphoric, becalmed and safe. After setting that great mood, Moby introduces a steady beat that gets me tapping my toes and swaying my shoulders from side-to-side. He adds some insistent violins. Then I hear this beautiful, melodic, melancholy and nostalgic piano riff. What a sweet sound! At the break, a guitar meanders, until it yield to the main theme again.
Altogether, "Love of Strings" has the power to carry me away to a distant land, mythic and filled with possibilities. I feel free, wandering through this new world built from layers of strings. As I said, I think "Love of Strings" is true to its name. I can feel that love from Moby, who has constructed a lovely sound collage. I plan to keep this on my short list of go-to songs, something I can listen to when I want to relax, work, brainstorm or accomplish just about anything else.
