Featured Songs on djSwade Radio - Year-End 2021 Edition

In August 2021, I debuted djSwade Radio on Pandora. Because I enjoyed the songs and artists so much, I decided to pick three that I really dug and describe what spoke to me about them. I had a blast doing it, so I'm making it a monthly thing. My only criteria for picking these songs is that I really enjoy them. It doesn't matter to me whether they're old or new as long as they groove. So, in no particular order, here are my picks for December 2021.

What better music to listen to in the middle of winter than a song called "Summer Groove"? As the name implies, this song has a very cool groove. It's a great melding of ambient, jazz and new age styles. I also hear funk influences in it. When I listen to it, I want to dance, but I can also work on other things or simply relax. Bottom line? It makes me feel very comfortable and happy.

I don't necessarily sit around listening to tangos all the time -- and I certainly can't dance it. However, this song really caught my ear. It has quite an exotic sound. Sure, it conjures the clichés of two lovers dancing the tango together, rose between the woman's teeth, but it's so much more. It has atmosphere, a beat that won't quit and incredible style. Of course, you've gotta love the bandoneon (a type of accordion), a staple of tango music. This has a sound all its own, which is a great thing.

The third song for this month is a shameless plug for my latest single, "Lemon Cello." It's been featured on Pandora for about a month now and it's been getting steady airplay. It seems people are enjoying it. The song has a very relaxed, easy feel. It starts with gentle surf and seabirds accompanied by sweet notes from a piano. Then, the beat kicks in along with an acoustic guitar. After a bit, cellos swell until the song breaks, the guitar searching, lost. When the main theme of the song returns, the guitar finds itself, singing along with a chorus. You can learn more about the creation of the song from my July 24 and October 21 blog posts. You can also watch the official video for some beautiful, relaxing scenery.

All these songs are highly recommended. You can hear them on djSwade Radio. You can also click the direct link to each song, artist or album provided above. If you like what you hear on djSwade Radio, you can also listen to my album Audiostrata (available on Pandora, Spotify, Amazon Music, YouTube Music and other online stores), as well as my new single "Sky's the Limit" (available on Pandora, Spotify, Amazon Music, YouTube Music and other online stores).
