"Sky's the Limit" is my newest single and its release date is December 31 (on Pandora, Spotify, Amazon Music, YouTube Music and other online stores) Technically, it's my last single of 2021, but I prefer to think of it as my first single of 2022. :)
This song represents a bit of a new direction for me. When I started the composition process, my idea was to sonically recreate a trip in space while celebrating the beauty of the universe. Along the way, it became an exploration of the vastness of space and what sounds might convey that immensity. I was inspired by various artists on this one, but principal influences were Thievery Corporation and The Doors. By the way, wife came up with the name. I think she did a great job of capturing the song's vibe.
The song is structured as a loose trilogy. At first, we're floating in space with no particular destination. After about a minute, we decide to get moving. That's when we start to pick up steam and explore some of amazing sights in the heavens. After looking around a bit, we hit our stride, rocketing out into the far reaches of the cosmos. As the song fades out, we're heading for parts unknown.
When I sat down to create the video, I chose to emphasize the beauty and vastness of the universe with gorgeous visuals. In the end, I was awed by the sheer magnitude and loveliness of our stars, planets, galaxies, nebulae and other heavenly bodies. I hope you are awed as well and that you enjoy the video.
INSIDER HINT: Keep an eye out for the Star Trek-inspired lettering in the credits at the end of the video.
You can hear "Sky's the Limit" on Pandora, Spotify, Amazon Music, YouTube Music and other online stores. You can also check out my artist pages on Pandora, Spotify, Amazon Music and YouTube Music, where you can listen to my first album Audiostrata and my last single "Lemon Cello."
